CRIEC in Nantes > Message from the Dean of Research

Dear PhD students,

Centrale Nantes is very pleased to be hosting the 2018 edition of the CRIEC "Colloque de Recherche Inter-Ecoles Centrale" (Inter-Ecoles Centrale Research Symposium).
This symposium, already in its 24th edition, is traditionally organised for PhD students by PhD students. It is intended for PhD students in the Ecoles Centrale Group and is also open to PhD students from associated laboratories, as well as host-city PhD students with an interest in engineering sciences. It aims to bring these young researchers together and to offer an experience that is different from that of conventional specialised conferences. The multidisciplinary presentations allow participants to measure the diversity of research carried out in the Ecoles Centrale group, to open doors to new themes, and who knows, to build links with other people and teams.
Whether you have just embarked upon your thesis, or your defense is just around the corner, presenting your work to a heterogeneous audience is always an excellent and unquestionably formative challenge, which will prove very useful for the rest of your career.

In cultural terms, you will have the opportunity to (re)discover Nantes. Its historic city centre has witnessed significant development in recent years and former industrial wasteland - the île de Nantes - has been transformed by an architectural project, unique in Europe. You may well have heard of the elephant which symbolises this area. The team of Centrale Nantes PhD students who are organising the symposium have also planned company visits and sports activities during the week.

I hope that as many of you as possible will be able to join us for CRIEC 2018.

Looking forward to meeting you,

Pr. Nicolas Moës
Dean of Research, Ecole Centrale de Nantes
